If you are planning on travelling throughout British Columbia during your visit to the Blue Iris Bed and Breakfast, you might wish to consider a luxury spa treatment at a nearby resort! My neighbour and I had our second annual visit to Sparkling Hills Resort in Vernon, BC, this week. What a treat this is for us! The rooms are fantastic with lots of Swarovski crystal, two Queen-size beds, deluxe bathroom, sweeping views of Okanagan Lake and surround from comfortable chairs beside floor-to-ceiling windows, wonderful buffet breakfasts, infinity pool, swimming pool, hot tub, steam rooms (I think there were 7 different ones in total!), saunas as well as the wonderful spa services such as massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, etc. We were so pampered and came home refreshed and relaxed.
Its a mark of the de-stressing that I took my cell phone and purse with me to dinner on the first night but by the second day was comfortable with leaving my “treasures” in the room safe, wearing my bathrobe and slippers to breakfast and completing forgetting about phone messages, emails, etc. for the duration of our stay. Guests are encouraged to stroll the hotel in the items provided, except for dinner where casual dress, sans slippers, is required.
I also wish to try the recipe for their Wake Up juice! It contained apple juice, honey, lemongrass, ginger, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, cardamom, fennel, caraway, black peppercorns and bay leaf. Despite the unusual ingredients, it really was quite refreshing in the morning, especially following a swim and hot tub dip!
