Greata Ranch Winery renamed

It has been an absolutely gorgeous day in the Okanagan.  George and I started out for a hike to Hastings Falls in Peachland but due to the high water conditions (with both rain and snow melt), the 7 bridges and trail were closed due to dangerous conditions.  So we visited the Peachland Museum instead!  I am not usually a museum visitor but this one was well worth it!  The family names that we recognize due to our street names was news to us!  We really enjoyed the many exhibits!

We have always meant to stop at the Art Gallery on Highway 97 (apply named Gallery97!) south from Peachland but never took the time until today.  We were very impressed with the many varied art forms and level of talent displayed there:  glass, pottery, oil, wood turning, etc.  Check out their web site for more information at www.gallery97.ca.

Then we went on to do some tasting and lunch at the Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards, formerly Greata Ranch winery, again on Highway 97, south of Peachland.  After 18 months of excavations they have totally re-vamped their tasting room and added a bistro and re-branded as Fitzpatrick, etc.  The two tasting rooms are for rose and white wines while the second room is for sparkling wines only.  They feature a wood-fired pizza menu as well as seafood (calamari), burgers, salads, etc.  We sampled the calamari (exceptional!) and the Elusive pizza – oyster mushrooms, rapini, shaved potato, oven dried tomato and roasted garlic Bechamel sauce.  To die for!!  Check out their web site at www.fitzwine.com.

This long weekend promises exceptional weather continuing… wish you were here!
